The Hawkeye Chess Club is a student organization at the University of Iowa that is a place for recreational and competitive chess as well as instruction in the mechanics of the game of chess and its strategy. We normally meet on Fridays at 5PM in room 345 of the Iowa Memorial Union, but other meetings and competitions may be scheduled throughout the year.

We do all things chess related! We teach new players the game and hold strategy discussions. We play traditional, bullet, and blitz chess, as well as the chess variant Bughouse. We also schedule to watch tournaments, such as the Candidate's Tournament and the World Chess Championship.
